There frequently are errors due to incompatible changes in scim configuration. Unfortunately, from the packaging side of things, there isn't much we can do. Everybody experiencing this crash, please do "rm -Rf ~/.scim/" (or move that folder to a safe place in case you want to restore it). You may also want to do "sudo aptitude reinstall scim;sudo aptitude reinstall scim-bridge". Please report back on whether or not this fixes the problem for you.
