Public bug reported:
I choose to boot Ubuntu 9.10 from the boot loader. I get a screen that
shows some HDD boot info and says 'Starting up....' which will flash
once and move the cursor back to the begining of the top line making it
appear this screen happens twice.
Then I get about a 1" strip from my Asus BIOS splash screen that flashes
near the top of the monitor. After that it moves to a still screen with
a white Ubuntu symbol in the middle and sits there for a bit.
After the screen with the white Ubuntu symbol, it goes back to the
screen with the HDD boot info and says 'Starting up....' which goes away
pretty quick but then I get a flash of a multi colored checkered screen.
The animated Ubuntu splash then starts. About 2/3 the way through, the
mouse cursor shows up and the animated bar turns into a long black
rectangle and then back to normal after the cursor goes away.
Ubuntu then finishes booting and starts the desktop.
This is on Ubuntu karmic (development branch) 9.10
