Public bug reported: Trying to do a clean install on a Sony Vaio (VGN-BX540B) laptop. This laptop is currently running Janunty Jackalope, so this is a new bug specific to KK.
I downloaded the 9.10 Beta-1 CD and burned to disc (This same disc was used to clean install a Dell machine also, so the disc is good, and verified correct, disc image also validated via MD5SUM). Placed disc in CD tray, and reboot. Language Menu-> English Install Menu -> Try Ubuntu without making changes to my current installation A black and white version of the Ubuntu logo comes on an otherwise black screen After about a minute or so, the screen fills up with: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... stdin: error 0 BusyBox v.1.13.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1ubuntu7) built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in command. (initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system ------------------------------------------------------------------------- It then sits and waits. Once I hit enter, the initram prompt comes back up. Could not find any place where it mounted the iso image, or any evidence of a pivotroot to get the system operational. I also tried to just do the install, figuring I could regress it if it did not work... The install also fails to start going directly into the install. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Karmic Koala Beta does not install on Sony Vaio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/454158 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
