I checked the directories that you have mentioned Sebastien and found no crash reports. I have activated apport by setting the value to 1
I can reproduce the desktop crash consistently. I also have some clean machines and will see if the crash occurs on those machines. Interesting I test Ubuntu 9.10 on monday and did not have the same problem.
