For what its worth, this is NOT an Ubuntu problem. I have this problem on Kubuntu AND PCLinuxOS. I have been fighting it for 2 weeks on PCLOS and just today installed Kubuntu 9.10. The problem DID NOT exist on the initial install BUT after a full update.
I tested a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 immediately after installation. No problem. Then did a full update and the problem showed up. This is very frustrating. I have 3 workstations that I need to get up and running that are broke. Also for what its worth, NCClient by Nomachine is also affected.
