This is not mozilla issue. This is Java issue which was present in 1.4.x version of Java. Not sure if it is still present in 1.5.x.
The issue is that JRE expects certain property for fonts and when it encounters fonts that do not have this property it crashes. This issue has been reported in Sun's issue tracker system but I don't know it's status. I should have all this info in old mails and I don't have access to them right now. There is also a program which will tell you the trouble making fonts and the only workaround I know is to remove those fonts.
