I have a similar issue but just noted this when updating from
ii linux-image-2.6.31-13-generic 2.6.31-13.44
Linux kernel image for version 2.6.31 on x86
to
ii linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic 2.6.31-14.48
Linux kernel image for version 2.6.31 on x86
Plugging in a MS IntelliMouse suggests the port is dead.
Furhtermore a new device seems to be in my list of devices which has not yet
been there before (the first in my lsusb output attached.) This looks like my
Webcam, that used to be swithced off by default through a hotkey combination
and disappeared from the lsusb output normally.
This may turn
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/455005 into a
duplicate.
