Public bug reported:

After the update from 8.10 to 9.04 everything was running fine, no
problems apart from an annoying but not critical issue with terminal
(could not fork pty). However, when the last kernel upgrade was done,
everything became slow (long boot time and hanging). Also, the arrows
and delete stopped working, with no good reason. As 9.10 is coming I
decided to do a clean re-install from the last down-loadable live CD
(October 15) and installed from scratch. So far so good, all keys
working and no visible issues except that closing the lid did not
activate suspend. Over the weekend though, I used suspend from the
button on the panel a few times and after that, the mentioned buttons
stopped working. It must be kernel related, as it only started after
the last upgrade.

Hardware = Compaq 6720s, US - RU keyboard.
in addition to the standard package Seamonkey (WYSIWYG), skype 2.0, thunderbird
and OOO3.1.1 are installed.
