Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gedit
gedit will hang for exactly 60 seconds under the following conditions:
1.) An inaccessible SFTP share has been mounted using Nautilus.
2.) gedit is open on a desktop other than the current one.
3.) The Applications->Accessories->Text Editor panel menu item is selected.
Requirement #1 is likely the only "real" requirement to trigger this,
and it may not even be limited to SFTP shares. I'm including the
additional information because it results in repeatable behavior.
Unmounting the inaccessible SFTP share will cure the issue and cause
gedit will begin working properly. I'm encountering this issue because
I use a share which is on a laptop which I tend to leave asleep except
when I'm transferring files to/from it.
Nautilus and most everything else seem to be unconcerned about the
inaccessible share.
