That's what I call a bug, or an improper IMAP implementation. There should not be, in my way, a local duplicate of the sent messages. Sent messages should go to the "GMAIL/Sent Messages" folder; deleted messages should go to the "GMAIL/Trash" folder without duplicate in the local trash folder, and all should transparent to the user. I am aware the Google IMAP particularity. When I was following the implementation of the IMAP feature on the Thunderbird email client, on the Mozilla forum, I came across a few threads alike. As aforementioned, the latest versions 2.2 and 3 handle now Google IMAP Gmail accounts in a transparent fashion as if you were using the Gmail web client. I am now using Evolution 2.26 on Linux Ubuntu, using IMAP Google Gmail accounts. The overall experience is good, minus a few details.
