Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nvidia-settings
Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10
nvidia-settings:
Installed: 180.25-0ubuntu1
Candidate: 180.25-0ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 180.25-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
I expected to be able to open nvidia-settings make some changes then save the
settings to X configuration file as normal. However this is not possible on
Karmic as I receive unable to parse xorg.conf error. It also says this error
if I run sudo nvidia-settings. The only way I can get my twinview configured
is to manually paste the contents of my old xorg.conf into my new one for
Karmic.
The actual crash recorded here was when I actually clicked save to X
configuration file button, it also crashes with admin privs. To
recreate the bug simply install nvidia 185 driver and attempt a save to
Xorg in nvidia-settings.
