as per my suggestion in the closely related Bug #458952 - wouldn't it be 
possible to package up all those little firmwares similarly to the way one 
currently treats the Broadcom wifi chipsets using the "fwcutter" package(s)? I 
had a very positive experience installing the Karmic RC on a laptop with a 
Broadcom wifi chipset (system identified the "troublesome" HW and offered to 
download + install the firmware for me -- surely a similar solution could be 
implemented for AF9005 and ec168 firmwares?
