I can vouch for this. My girlfriend's Packard Bell EasyNote does exactly the same thing. I tested it with the Ubuntu 9.10 Beta LiveCD and she still has that problem. You keep getting asked for the password. She's had this problem with Intrepid and Jaunty too.
