/home/<username> is mounted using sshfs, only the user's home directory
is mounted that way, so having something outside of /home/<username>
won't be accessible by localapps.
Though, since Karmic you have the LOCAL_APPS_EXTRAMOUNTS attribute that
you can use to mount additional directories from the server.
Marking the bug fix released as that change should let you do what you
want.
