** Description changed: - Binary package hint: nautilus - - I have an 1TB external HDD (ext3) which is hooked up to my computer - using firewire. When i create a new folder in the drive, there is a - significant delay, and the first time i tried it it froze. I am trying - to copy files onto it and as soon as i told it to merge two folders, it - froze. When it freezes it will simply hang and i can't kill the process. - I have to restart my computer. When i copied files onto it using USB - from my other computer, i had no trouble. + When transferring files over firewire to external storage, especially + large transfers, the transfer will hang. This appears to be hardware + specific, and i'm not sure if it's faulty hardware, or a a bug. My + firewire card seems to read from external sources just fine, but large + file transfers are always unsuccessful.
