I would switch to digikam, just for the video handling (import, thumbnail preview, open w/ external app)...
...BUT since I have tagged like 9000+ photos w/ F-Spot and most of the tags are not embedded into the files, I cannot use my tagging system in Digikam. Hence I have to wait for the video feature to be implemented - and it's about time: according to this bug report https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166038 the discussion started like 4.5 YEARS ago!! I've no programming skills what so ever, so I can't build that extension.
