Secondly, could you please try commenting out this line from /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf? options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N To comment it out, place a # at the beginning of the line, like so: #options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N Once you do this, reboot your system, and report back with the results. Hopefully the popping will go away, and the audio should stay set to the setting you want.
