Public bug reported:
The current installer does not support reinstallation. However, the need to
reinstall the system
occurs. For example, I have now upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10RC, but the upgrade
process
corrupted the system, to the point that it cannot even bootstrapped.
To overcome the problem I need to reinstall either the old 9.04 or the new
9.10RC.
In both cases, with the current installer I must first delete the existing disk
partitions for
Ubuntu, and let the installer create new ones.
This is dangerous, and it is contrary with the use of disk partitions, that are
normally
created once, and then kept as they are, and used to hold systems and data for
long,
until one decides to restructure its disks.
My request is to allow the installer to format and install over existing
partitions.
