Public bug reported:
After I allowed the System -> Administration -> Hardware Drivers to
install a proprietary driver for 'Software Modem', upon reboot sound was
gone.
aplay -l originally gave me this result:
/dev/snd/controlC0: Slmodemd 1299 F.... slmodemd
/dev/snd/pcmC0D6c: Slmodemd 1299 F...m slmodemd
/dev/snd/pcmC0D6p: Slmodemd 1299 F...m slmodemd
I've used the command 'sudo alsa force-reload' and then aplay -l gave me this
result:
/dev/snd/controlC0: bullhorn 2466 F.... pulseaudio
Sound works again after disabling the proprietary driver or after using
the force-reload command after each boot (or by editing /etc/rc.local
with that command)
p.s. this is a fresh Karmic Koala RC installation.
