Public bug reported:
This is on Jaunty. I have a T30 laptop with the default Intersil Prism
2.5 chipset wireless LAN card. Per advice in various bugs (and then I
think via patches that were shipped) the orinoco drivers are disabled,
thus using the hostap_pci drivers, which allow me to use WPA2. All was
working well until about three weeks ago, when suddenly it started
hanging on boot. After much diagnostic work, I have determined that it
does not hang on boot if I comment out the orinoco (etc.) entires from
/etc/modprobe.d/hostap-utils.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
(that is, no longer blacklist the orinoco drivers).
Note that when I do this then the previous problem returns where WPA2 is
not an option (because the ornico driver is being used?). So perhaps
there is a problem with the hostap driver?
