hy, ok, the windows versions are all xp pro or home, and there are
shares in windows (rightclick on folder, share, in german its "einfache
Dateifreigabe" in english "simple share" i think. then ive entered the
share name and then apply and okay. if i browse the share with windows i
use normal explorer and enter the urls like \\my-pc. this works.
yesterday ive updated my ubuntu to the newest feisty packages, including
the newest samba.
and i ve tried to browse with gnome menu -> spaces -> network or so
then i see windows workgroup, but my workgroup in windows is named
plastiik, and in the windows workgroup i only see my pc, the pc with ubuntu.
i hope this will help, and i hope you can fix this, because i need my
lan shares to do the work i should do. for sure i can read a big samba
howto, and fix the configs, but normal windows users, which switched to
ubuntu cant do this.
regards, chief
