hi, thanks for reply. by the way i am totally new in computer, and i am now confuse on this... my laptop is totally mute,, no sound at all but if i will reinstall the windows7 OS everything works fine even the lightscriber of dvd and up to the small detail that i only know.. not only the ryhtnbox not working sound but even the alert sounds built in to this laptop. other function dvd run but no sound too.. camera works but no sound on chat, so text and sign language is used then. what i have now is just plain web browsing and e-mail... thanks for any help.. oh! what is sound card and sound driver ,, is my computer lacking this ? i don't think so since sounds works with windows7... i used the cd live i requested from linux canonical in installing ubuntu. thanks for any help you will extend..
