Due to a problem with GRUB2, I had to do a fresh install of Karmic RC today. It fixed most of my problems, but, unfortunately brought back the suspend/resume bug :(
So somehow, somewhere along the line it was working between Jaunty and Karmic, but a fresh install of Karmic renders it not working again.
