I use skype very regularly (several hours per day) and occasionally X stops
being responsive when Skype is in the process of initiating a call.
The system is usually still alive in that it will repsond to some SysRq
requests, and often it will spring back to life, but it often won't.
This is the only relevant looking syslog output:
