1. Arch Linux is stuck in Pulseaudio 0.9.15 because of this. 2. CS46xx is buggy as hell. It is possible, but difficult, to trigger the same bug with plain ALSA. Also, Pulseaudio with ts_sched=1 is unusable with CS46xx. Audio streams lose their synchronization, and the only way to play audio reliably with that is playing with PAVuControl always enabled. Also, I read somewhere in the ALSA mailing lists that the timing mechanism for the CS46xx driver is "unique and buggy".
