Public bug reported:

HP Pavilion tx2500 CTO notebook/tablet system with fresh Karmic RC
installation, all available updates applied. Available restricted
drivers in use. System went to sleep after sitting unattended for some
time, hitting the power switch woke it to the 'unlock' dialogue.
Keyboard and mouse would not come back up, totally non-responsive. Had
to plug in a USB mouse, switch to a new login and reboot (terminating
the other session).
