I did not allow the installer to change grub's menu.lst file and this error was the result. Changing menu.lst is pure hell in Ubuntu, and I will not use any form of Linux unless I can make Windows 7 is the default boot option. Editing menu.lst to make that happen is idiot simple, but try and save your changes when Ubuntu is hell bent on denying you root privileges!
