Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: dmraid
ISSUE:
dmraid simply maps whatever raid info is stored in NVraid without respect to
the bios setting for NVraid to be enabled/disabled.
SEVERITY:
The issue can prevent start-up.
BACKGROUND:
I was running 9.04 and upgraded to 9.10rc. When I rebooted, it got stuck after
grub loaded the kernel image. After much troubleshooting, I discovered the
kernel image had inappropriately discovered my old raid setup and mapped it
despite the fact that I had NVraid disabled in the bios. Mapping the old raid
prevented it from seeing my root partition, thus preventing start-up.
** Affects: dmraid (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
