Syncing contacts is still not in place, but should be very soon.
As for the 'Error while adding a contact' message, could you please run,
on a terminal:
$ evolution --force-shutdown
$ /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-data-server-2.28
and then start Evolution again and try again the operation that got you
that error message? After doing so, if it fails again, please copy all
the output in the terminal and paste it here
