Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-utils
After upgrading Ubuntu 9.04 32 bit to 9.10 32 bit the log file viewer
exhibits an error in looking for log files that have been renamed.
Upon running Log File Viewer, the application becomes unresponsive for several
minutes while displaying the error message:
/var/log/syslog.0: Error stating file '/var/log/syslog.0': No such file or
directory
/var/log/auth.log.0: Error stating file '/var/log/auth.log.0': No such file or
directory
After a few minutes, the application starts to respond and displays the
logs in the messages area.
Upon checking the /var/log directory, syslog.0 and auth.log.0 do not
exist. They have been replaced by syslog and auth.log
