Apparently, this command should now be part of /etc/hdparm.conf.
I did this:
gksudo gedit /etc/hdparm.conf
....and I added the following text:
command_line {
hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda
}
Save and reboot. Now the clicking is gone.
Note the use of sda and not hda! Using hda doesn't work.
