I think this bug is a duplicate of bug #38081 Btw, In Ubuntu Live and install CD's and in default installation Ubuntu should include not only ndiswrapper-utils package, but also info from http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation and http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List, I think. Without this info users, who have only ndiswrapper supported network cards, can't connect to internet, even advanced linux users can't :(
Best decision would be to include some user-friendly wizard to install drivers for network cards, which doesn't have open source drivers in ubuntu, but works through ndiswrapper and closed-source drivers for Windows. There is ndisgtk package in Ubuntu, maybe it should be included as default in Ubuntu main repository and install/Live CD's? -- Package should be installed by default https://launchpad.net/bugs/49820 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
