Hi, sorry to bump an old thread. I've been getting having the same problem - unmount but can't eject. It mostly happens if a program has trouble and crashes but not always. This one was after trying to read a cd via VMWare Player 3 on Ubuntu Jaunty. VMWare couldn't read it and shut down cleanly, but then I couldn't get the cd back. Eject as superuser and the physical button aren't working. Here's the trace requested from an earlier user. I'll post the cdrom info from proc in a sec. I switched cdrom to the actual device in the command - here's the listing as a sanity check.
r...@tintin:/home/tgraham# ls -l /dev/cdrom lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2009-10-29 15:35 /dev/cdrom -> sr0 I've also had this happen to a debian box. It's really common if a DVD is scratched up (library disks, what can you do) and the player hangs. I can get the disk back with a soft reboot right after POST. ** Attachment added: "strace -Ff -tt eject /dev/sr0 2>&1 | tee strace_eject.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34649322/strace_eject.txt -- CD won't eject https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303586 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
