I have a very similar problem. Using Ubuntu 9.04 gnucash and aqbanking
worked fine, and I was able to download transactions from my bank. After
upgrading to 9.10, the package manager decided to (auto)remove several
aqbanking libraries and packages. Now, I cannot connect to my bank
anymore.

Actually, the ~/.aqbanking directory still exists describing my
aqbanking user and accounts, but just does not pop up anymore in the
aqbanking wizard. If I try to re-configure aqbanking, it does not allow
me to use old version of the HBCI protocol anymore. I need the 2.10
version. Also, it does not list the address of my bank anymore.
