This might be a problem in nm-applet. Connection works with a guest account on the same computer, and also with my account after I removed these directories from my home and added the connection again: .dbus .local .gnome2 .cache .gconf .gnome2_private .nautilus .xinput.d .config .gconfd .gvfs
Previously, after selecting the 802.11x wired connection, I got these messages in syslog: Oct 31 11:04:20 radon NetworkManager: <info> (eth0) supplicant connection state: disconnected -> associated Oct 31 11:04:21 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-STARTED EAP authentication started Oct 31 11:04:21 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-METHOD EAP vendor 0 method 25 (PEAP) selected Oct 31 11:04:21 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: OpenSSL: tls_connection_handshake - Failed to read possible Application Data error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0) Oct 31 11:04:21 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: EAP-TLV: TLV Result - Failure Oct 31 11:04:29 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-FAILURE EAP authentication failed Oct 31 11:04:45 radon NetworkManager: <info> Activation (eth0/wired): association took too long. After that, nm-applet always crashed with this message: ** Message: <info> New secrets for Blabl? eth0/802-1x requested; ask the user ** ERROR:eap-method-peap.c:128:fill_connection: assertion failed: (s_con) Aborted (instead of the ? in the connection name there is actually a å) and in the syslog I see: Oct 31 10:58:05 radon NetworkManager: <info> (eth0): device state change: 6 -> 3 (reason 38) Oct 31 10:58:05 radon NetworkManager: <info> (eth0): deactivating device (reason: 38). BTW: also with the new config files, there is the OpenSSL error message in the syslog: Oct 31 11:00:08 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-STARTED EAP authentication started Oct 31 11:00:08 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-METHOD EAP vendor 0 method 25 (PEAP) selected Oct 31 11:00:09 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: OpenSSL: tls_connection_handshake - Failed to read possible Application Data error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0) Oct 31 11:00:09 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: EAP-MSCHAPV2: Authentication succeeded Oct 31 11:00:09 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: EAP-TLV: TLV Result - Success - EAP-TLV/Phase2 Completed Oct 31 11:00:09 radon wpa_supplicant[1150]: CTRL-EVENT-EAP-SUCCESS EAP authentication completed successfully -- fails to connect to wired ieee802.11x and crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451496 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
