I have updated the system to the latest Ubuntu software packages using
synaptic.
Now:
- the selftest to switch to vt works fine
- the cycling through all supported display resolution works fine
- switching to vt using Ctrl+Alt+F1 works fine
- switching from vt to desktop using Ctrl+Alt+F7 works fine
Thus all issued concerning this bug are fixed and this bug should be
closed.
