I am also finding the same issue. Upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 on 29Oct2009. When system starts with window manager as GNOME, opening any application will result in display hanging. PC power-cycle is required to recover. No bug info could be collected, since display is totally hanged. There is no problem when started on GNOME FAILSAFE window manager. This PC was earlier worked perfectly on 7.x, 8.10 & 9.04 with out this problem. Monitor is acer LCD 14" - AL1522 and PC is acer AcerPower model (BIOS : V12.285, WO# 0324, INTEL DUEL CORE)
