That's it, Daniel! The drivers are working correctly but the volume of 'Master Front' is zero by default. Note: You cannot see the settings for 'Master Front' and some other values in the new volume control gui of Karmic Koala! I think cleaning up the volume control was a good thing to do, but there should by something like "advanced properties" to access every value you can see and modify in the old alsamixer.
