Downgrading network-manager to a version from Jaunty didn't work. However, I've noticed that ifplugd package was not installed on my machine. After installation of this package hot plugging/unplugging of network cable became possible and didn't cause any issues.
It seems like ifplugd is not being installed with Karmic by default. -- eth0 not listed by ifconfig if cable not plugged when booting; system crashes if cable hot unplugged https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/466325 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
