@szynt8 Your touchpad issue is not related to sound except for the fact that you're using the wrong kernel for Karmic. Please note that Karmic's kernel is 2.6.31, not 2.6.27. Make sure your grub configuration (grub.cfg/menu.lst) is properly updated.
