I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 on a spare partition. I had
previously installed Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix Beta and not seen this
problem.
When I disconnected my eth0 to see if wireless worked, I got the
restricted driver popup. I installed the free drivers. (Without closing
Restricted Drivers.) Looked like free drivers didn't work. Removed them
and installed nonfree drivers. Took a long time to "download and install
drivers". I clicked cancel. I waited. I noticed that I had a crash
report waiting.
