Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Hello,

I have lost my wired internet connection in ubuntu 9.10. I was using
before ubuntu 8.04 without problems.

I obtain normally a private IP address from the router which operates
as a NAT. However, i cannot ping outside the internet to a public
address (host cannot be reached). I have tried to manually set up ip
addresses with ifconfig and chanigng the files /interfaces and
/resolv.conf but to no avail, because the IP address was not changed
at all (another person has reported this bug).

i have tried in three different computers to cope with this problem
but no success.

I have installed mandriva 2009 and the internet connection worded out of
the box.

Note that many people have reported that they can connect to router but
no internet connection .However all of theme were able to ping outside
the network and was probably a DNS issue. In my case i cannot even ping
outside the network.

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
