Public bug reported:
Power consumption of Acer Aspire 1810TZ notebook in Ubuntu Karmic 9.10
is twice as high as in Windows Vista.
Power consumption in Ubuntu (as measured by powertop 1.11) is about
9,5-12,6W, where in Windows under the same conditions (Google desktop
gadget Power monitor) reports only 4,4-5,5W consumption. And the
notebook battery up-time is nearly doubled under Vista. Could we have
some more juice friendy kernel as an option?
I know (or at least I hope to think so) how complex this problem is, I
just rather wanted to point it out and start discussion/brainstorming
about possible solutions, feasible for common notebook folks, who need
rather longer up-time than realtime clocking kernel for their portables.
