Still can not connect to my PPPoE servers, even with latest NM from PPA. In my case (Karmic - Amd64) rp-pppoe (or pppd) just ignores the rp_pppoe_service param and timeouts. While using the pppoe-discovery with service setting I can receive PADO packets.
