I have looked at bug 456902. There is no need to turn off Desktop Effects since this PCI ID [8086:2562] is blacklisted in COMPIZ. I have also tried 'nomodeset' while booting and the freeze still takes place.
I move from place to place and use whatever machines available at that place. This bug report pertains to my daughter's desktop located at Bhubaneswar, India and I am leaving this place tomorrow. Luckily I was using the Karmic installation on it today and the freeze has taken place when another Laptop was available at home. I am using that Laptop with Ubuntu Jaunty Live CD now and could ssh into the desktop. I am attaching dri_debug-20091103.tgz here. Btw I am leaving this Karmic installation with vesa driver in xorg.conf to make it usable. ** Attachment added: "dri_debug-20091103.tgz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35016693/dri_debug-20091103.tgz -- [i845G] X freezes randomly. mouse pointer moves but nothing happens on cliking. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/466310 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
