I installed Ubuntu version 9.10 on an old Compaq Presario 5000 without a problem.
Then ran a Ubuntu 9.10 "update" followed by a complete install on a newer Compaq HP Pavilion A6200T. Both failed after login - the screen freezes. Version 9.04 ran fine. The newer system uses an Intel Celeron D420 chip. It also has an Intel RP843AV integrated chip. The boot and logon go normally. The Gnome desktop loads. Shortly after, when using mouse or not, the system freezes and will not respond to any input. I ran a disk error check on the install CD and it passed. There were no problems during the lengthy update or install process. The error only occurs after the final reboot and initial use of the new operating system. -- Gnome Freezes -- Ubuntu 9.10 -- big time freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461163 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
