Thanks for the reply Bryce. I will attach the outputs tonight, but I wanted to follow up with some additional information. The issue may stem from when the "init" command is run at boot. I was able to reproduce the freeze from the Recovery Mode command line last night. I was trying to install the NVIDIA drivers from their website, and I was prompted to be at a run level of 3. Upon running "telinit 3", the system froze again after 20 seconds at the command line. X was not even running this time.
