Did someone tried to compile a kernel under karmic especially for the U100 MSI? In that case the newest kernel from kernel.org eliminate the probs. For that my knowledge is not advanced enough compiling a so called vanilla kernel for myself.

In my case, i'm working with karmic by blacklisting uvcvideo and using a alternative webcam. The other prob getting the flickr away ist to start a menu with a right click for seconds, so i can controll the flickr. I don't have the flickr any more by using an external flat monitor.
