rew05766, If I understand your description right, this isn't a bug, but instead a rather annoying issue with word processors. My trick for adding a new line to a bulleted list without a new bullet is to do "Shift-Enter" instead of just "Enter". You then shouldn't have to hit backspace to delete the bullet. Try that and see if that does the trick for you.
