Nephilim, there are a couple of possible reasons for what happened. The first is that the upgrade process did not properly update your /boot/grub/menu.lst file correctly, and therefore you were still booting into the Jaunty kernel instead of the Karmic kernel. The mix of Jaunty kernel with Karmic packages can cause various drivers to not work properly. This has been a very common problem due to a package bug recently discovered.
The solution to this particular problem is to run 'sudo update-grub' after upgrading to Karmic. The other possibility can be solved by installing the 'linux-backports- modules-alsa-karmic-generic' package and then rebooting. Lastly, there have been found some possible conflicts with the sl-modem- daemon which prevents sound from being usable. Uninstalling this package (assuming you aren't using a phone modem...) can clear up that problem. Let us know if one of those solutions work for you. -- No sound with pulseaudio on Ubuntu 9.10 (9.04 works fine) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/473946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
